Real American Treasure is All Around You!
WHAT IS TREASURE
Not completely sure what, where, how or why America is so infatuated with treasure. For me it was all of the stories, movies, myths, legends and books about pirates that I consumed in my childhood – I mean my first memorable Halloween costume was a Pirate. And who doesn’t fantasize or romanticize finding buried treasure (or in the case of pirates – just looting it from a wealthy nation’s ship) – Look at all of the Hollywood movies about Treasure – my personal favorites National Treasure 1, National Treasure 2, and Sahara – which star Nicolas Cage and Mathew McConaughey solving historical riddles while embarking on mythically impossible treasure hunts that take him all across the globe where he ultimately discovers unimaginable hordes of treasure and gets the beautiful girl in the process.
REAL AMERICAN TREASURE
OK maybe a little bit too much romanticizing – but the most interesting part is that there really is hundreds of millions of dollars – maybe even billions of dollars’ worth of treasure still out there – ALL AROUND US – every day – just waiting to be discovered!! What Can you do?
Now you may be thinking – I don’t have a Spanish galleon treasure ship buried in my back yard – which in itself is a tribute to how popular “The Curse of Oak Island” is – my absolute current favorite TV show about treasure hunting! But let’s take a minute to define what we mean by treasure and more in depth what we define as Real American Treasure….. The treasure we are talking about is REAL money – copper, silver and gold made into coins – used to buy, sell and trade goods all around the world – Real monies that fueled the growth of America from the mid-centuries on into present day. VERY REAL treasure that you’re not so distant relatives used, saved and collected and or LOST that is out there waiting to be re-discovered. This treasure is sitting in shoe boxes, tin cans, jars and boxes hiding in your attics – it’s in safe deposit boxes passed down from Father’s to Sons – from Grand Mother’s to Daughters – tucked way under beds or in closets and forgotten about over time. In fact the most common places real treasure comes into our lives is with the passing of a relative through inheritance or just plain re-discovery in liquidating a household.
